Mites (Acari) are minute arthropods, barely visible to the naked eye, and are particularly abundant and diverse in temperate forests (Walter & Proctor 1999). They live in different forest microhabitats, from deep soils to tops of trees, but usually are most abundant and species-rich among mosses (e.g. Seniczak et al. 2018). This DSc. research work “The Oribatida fauna (Acari: Oribatida) of Vietnam - Systematics, Zoogeography and Zonation, Formation and Role in the soil ecosystem” is a synthesis of the author’s studies carried out in Vietnam during the period of 1979-2013, and based on the Oribatida materials obtained throughout the country. Abstract Oribatid mites are primarily terrestrial.
